Kung Fu Tech Interview ReviewShort version: This book stinks, Gayle Laakmann McDowell's Cracking the Coding Interview (fifth) edition is orders of magnitude better, not much more expensive, and includes 150 real coding questions. Gayle Laakmann McDowell's The Google Resume is also very good, but much less coding focused and more about gaining experience, writing resumes, and other things to help you get that interview in the first place.
Long Version:
Kung Fu Tech Interview is complete garbage. It is filled with many typos/errors, has very little content (34 pages from cover to cover, 26 pages of actual content, most of which is fluff), and is heavily focused only on applying for front-end positions (which was NOT made obvious in the description).
The few interview questions he does point out are almost always about general concept based questions. How much will this prepare you for a real coding interview? NOT ONE BIT. The ONLY lines of code that are shown in this book are on the cover art.
For $15 you get 26 pages of actual content in very large text on flimsy paper (which makes it feel more like a coloring book). You will read through this in maybe 20 minutes. Just ask yourself: Is a book that could have been written by a freshman level intern in a few hours really going to help you rock that interview?
Furthermore, there are the embarrassing amount of errors. This book has obviously not been edited or reviewed by someone that knows what they're talking about. In fact at certain points, he very badly misspells the names of technologies that he claims to be passionate about (e.g. calls CoffeeScript "copy script").
I have a serious suspicion that most of the reviews on here of this book are fake. Several of the same reviewers have also reviewed the book called "The Best Book On How To Become A Full Time Stand-up Comedian". Quite a few of the other reviewers have NEVER reviewed anything else on Amazon.
I feel very sorry I ever got suckered into buying this. Do yourself a favor and get Gayle's books or just read some articles online.Kung Fu Tech Interview Overview
