That Bloody Female Poet (a book before Google) ReviewTim Orchard's 3rd novel tells the tale of a novelist struggling to write a biography of the eccentric poet, Adela Florence Nicholson. His own disastrous relationships prove to be at least as entertaining as the exploits of Adela. Watch out for the surprise ending.
I am waiting with bated breath to receive his other 2 novels, Shane & Shane Dos
Once again Tim Orchard has produced an exceptionally well-written story with fascinating characters. This is the tale of a novelist struggling to write a biography of the eccentric poet, Adela Florence Nicholson. His own disastrous relationships prove to be at least as entertaining as the exploits of Adela. An intriguing book and a very good read.
That Bloody Female Poet (a book before Google) OverviewSet in Victorian India in the days of the Raj and in early 1990's London, it is obvious from early on something has happened. That something is Cassie Denham. Henry is a writer and an underachiever with a bad attitude, desperately trying to write a biography of Victorian Poetess Adela Florence Nicolson( pen name Laurence Hope). After a year of research he realizes the facts of her life are just not there, they do not exist. Encouraged by his agent/lover to produce something, fiction becomes his only option. He melds the few known facts with gossip, rumour and large dollops of pure hokum. In a paired down Victorian style, Henry serves up all the passion and drama that hallmarked Adela and her husbands life together. Victorian sex and daring - do on wheels and don't forget Cassie Denham.Tim Orchard lures us from modern day Brixton, London, to Victorian India. Once you are in you can't get out! I even fell in love with his Bloody Female Poet! Eckhard EngelmannOne of my favorite books, a dark, romantic modern classic. Victoria AllenI've waited too long for this great book to be published. Martin Thompson - DenningOnce again Tim Orchard has produced an exceptionally well - written story with fascinating characters. This is the tale of a novelist struggling to write a biography of the eccentric poet Adela Florence Nicolson but his own disasterous relationships prove to be at least as entertaining! Jenny Twist.
