Soulguard Black (Guards of The Gods) Review"Soulguard Black" (Guards of The Gods) is a new fantasy adventure by Dana Harvey. This Kindle Edition is a 236 Kb download and is priced at $2.99.

Two freedom fighters, Graham and Lache have hidden a magical item...only to find that it's been discovered by an unsuspecting farm boy. The boy is magically transformed and his life is about to change in ways he'd never imagined.

The Pros:
1.) interesting cover art...good enough to make me look twice at it and was probably the deciding factor that finally made me buy this novel.
2.) an intriguing beginning that seemed to have some potential for a good tale.
The Cons:
1.) the story quickly seemed to lose focus...branching off in many tangents that I found difficult to follow.
2.) repetitive phrases and character thoughts...making the book, as you got deeper into it, a struggle to continue to read.
3.) a whole lot of little things that that should have been picked up and corrected prior to publication e.g. poor spelling and grammar...seem instead of seam, there instead of their, hansome instead of handsome, u instead of you, etc. Also proper names sometimes started with a capital letter, sometimes not. So many and frequent mistakes that it almost became embarrassing to read.
4.) no map...the story involved some travel; a map would have been an added feature.
Conclusion:
An interesting start that held some potential...I had the feeling that in the right hands this might have been very good tale. However, the poor command of grammar, spelling errors and weak writing skills made this a book that has little appeal. A good editor may have helped enormously. But as it is...1 1/2 Stars.
