About the author: Silvina P. Hillar, who has a degree in Education and graduated with honors, has been teaching English since 1993. After extended research on the subject of "multimedia and enhanced teaching and learning via VLE platforms", she now utilizes Moodle and Web 2.0 in her classroom. Furthermore, Silvina has participated in the publication of Moodle 1.9 English Teacher's Cookbook, by Packt Publishing.
Chapter 1: Creating Interactive User Experiences will touch on how to assemble a multitude of diverse activities to incorporate into your course. The reader will learn about how to build a cloze test ("fill-in-the-blanks") by using only pictures, set up True/False quizzes, learn about maze activities using images, gain knowledge on how to embed an interactive flowchart, find out how to create matching activities with pictures and paragraphs, and lastly, the reader will discover how easy it is to link external 2D and 3D interactive activities. The chapter is well designed and easy to understand. Each step is followed by a screen shot which makes it easy to understand and to follow.
Chapter 2: Whereas in Chapter One, the reader was introduced on how to link external 2D and 3D interactive activities, in Chapter Two, he will now discover how working with 2D and 3D maps will change the landscape of his course. In easy-to-understand, well documented steps, the reader not only will learn how to make maps with sceneries, goggle European bridges, and how to embed maps, but also will get familiar on how to use pins to label maps and how to use 3D drawings using 3DIVA Shape for Maps.
The chapter starts off with an introduction and an explanation on what each section will cover. Step by step, the reader will find himself engaged in a host of learning activities to enhance learning.
Chapter 3: Working with Different Types of Interactive Charts will explain in details not only how to insert a column chart or embed a line chart, it also will cover how to create interactive charts, as well as on how to add a hyperlink to your bar chart, and how to create polls and charts, and design surface charts. All in all, the reader will get familiar with a number of possibilities on how to create and use charts to enhance and utilize them to promote student learning.
Chapter 4: Integrating Interactive Documents is the subject of Chapter Four. The reader will be guided on how to insert and use many different types of interactive media to enhance his Moodle course. Chapter 7: Chapter Seven will cover the area on how working with bitmap images and photographs will be beneficial to your Moodle learning environment. You will be delighted to learn in very detailed, easy- to-understand explanations on how to select the compression schemes that are right for your project, how to add effects, and how to apply filters. Uploading images and linking external image files will be an easy task for you after working through this chapter. Moreover, you will not only learn to create animated graphics, but how to also add color curves to your project.
Chapter 8: Working with Vector Graphics is the learning objective for this chapter. Vector Graphics formats are a challenge and a rather difficult task to incorporate into Moodle. Nevertheless, in this chapter, the learner will be presented with a plethora of detailed information on how to utilize tools to master the task of changing and adding Vector graphics to Moodle without frustration.
Chapter 9: This chapter will touch on how to design and integrate E-portfolios into Moodle. E-portfolios are very popular and widely used nowadays. Knowing how to successfully gather information, develop, and prepare for a winning portfolio will be covered extensively in this chapter.

By explaining and outlining each step with words easy to understand and a number of screen shots to follow, the author captured the attention of the reader. The chapters are well organized, and all information is added to follow the instructions to accomplish each task needed to create a multimedia-rich Moodle environment.
By numbering the steps to follow and highlighting in bold letters what to do next, the course creator will be able to go beyond the basics and find will himself in an easy-to-understand dialog to complete the task outlined in each chapter.
Each chapter starts off with a "Getting ready" paragraph to inform the reader what he will find and what will be covered in this chapter. The "How to do it" section will sketch out in a very detailed manor how to carry out each task. The screen shots will help the Moodle course creator to recognize and find mistakes that he may have made.
Overall, the Moodle 2.0 Multimedia Cookbook is a well designed, easy to follow and understand guide to successfully incorporate with ease any type of multimedia into a Moodle course. Even beginners will be comfortable following this.
