My DROID: (Covers DROID 3/Milestone 3, DROID Pro, DROID X2, DROID Incredible 2/Incredible S, and DROID CHARGE) (2nd Edition) ReviewOn the same day I purchased the Samsung Galaxy SII to use on the TMobile network, I found this book on the Costco book table. It looked like just the thing to answer my questions and confusions about a new (to me) operating system.
So I wanted to learn how to transfer some of my music from iTunes to the new phone, preferably bringing across the Playlists that I have created in iTunes. I wanted to set up Firefox with my bookmarks. I wanted to bring across my Contacts from gmail and make up my own ringtones.
I could not find any help for these matters in this book. It seemed to treat contacts as something you would enter one at a time into the phone itself. Music was something you would buy and download a tune at a time. Forget about iTunes playlists. There was no help on making up my own ringtones. There was no guidance about bringing bookmarks across. So it was not helpful to me in getting my phone set up.
It is also confusing because the book deals with so many iterations of the android operating system; each variation of the OS and each phone company has a slightly different screen appearance, all prettily pictured in the book, but forcing the reader to make sure he is looking at the picture and instructions relevant to his phone.
After a couple of days I have been able to learn the system of my phone and do the things I wanted to do. To bring across iTunes playlists I can recommend iSyncr. For ringtones, Ringtone Maker. For contacts, gmail's "My Contacts" seems to be syncronized with my phone's contact list. So I made sure first that my gmail's my contacts list was as I wanted to see it on the phone. My DROID: (Covers DROID 3/Milestone 3, DROID Pro, DROID X2, DROID Incredible 2/Incredible S, and DROID CHARGE) (2nd Edition) Overview
